6/23/09 I am leaving for my 5th European tour with the Ranchhands tomorrow. This year I will be making my first visit to Bulgaria, Romania, Poland and Sweden, along with a handful of shows in Switzerland and France. Its gonna be a fun one. Happy New Year! Exciting times await us in 2009. I have some new Tour Dates posted, a new album is in the works and Shade Free Music will be getting a face lift. So expect the unexpected and check back frequently for an abundance of surprises! Also thanks to every one who has viewed and commented on my youtube videos. I know I havent updated this in a while. The story is, I just made the switch to a Mac and all my software is gone. But at last I have found a way. In a nut shell; Shade Free Music is taking off! We are wraping up on our first feature film next week. You may also spot some of our music on CMT, True TV and the History Channel. The Ranchhands just finished a short run up to the north mid west. Thanks to our friends who traveld out to see us, made us drinks at the hotel, took us to dinner, sold our merch, and kept us from going insane...well allmost. Thanks yall! This weekend is shaping up to be a big one. Halloween will be in Salisbury at the Blue Vine with Tennessee Jed. This should be a nice warm up for the first annual Darlington Country Festival where we will be sharing the stage with the Marshall Tucker Band. So much happening. Ill keep you informed the best I can. 7/17/08I am writing today from Sarajevo, Bosnia. This morning I had a delicious cup of Turkish coffee with the great Joan Baez. Small world huh? Been taking in the sites and enjoying the beautiful scenery. The tour is in full swing and the movie is promising to be a good one!! You will find exclusive songs not availble here, so check it out! 3/15/08 I put up some new music from last week on myspace. The first is a piece by Joe Troop we worked up while on tour with Tennessee Jed. We premiered it at the ITC Theater in Highlands, NC on Banjo and Mandolin. However we decided to rearrange it for Guitar and Banjo. You can hear two more songs from our recording session at www.myspace.com/joetroop. The second is a great bluegrass brother duet written by Philip Barker. He was in town with Town Mountain and stopped by to lay this one down. For those of you who may not know, Phil and I were partners in Steel String Theory. It is great to be writing and recording together again. I hope more will be recorded and posted soon. 3/04/08Hi yall! I just returned home from a great European tour with The Ranchhands. It was a quick two week trip, however four of the six shows were sold out! We shared the stage with some great bands and met tons of great people along the way. I hope to have pictures up soon. Also a youtube search of The Ranchhands should yield some live videos of the trip. Im off tomorrow to play some shows on mandolin with Raleigh based Tennessee Jed. Check the tour page for info.
